The beam is on a <a href=\"https:\/\/pickedshares.com\/en\/reaction-forces-in-bearings-joints-and-guidances\/\">fixed and a floating bearing<\/a>, loaded by an even line load.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--noptimize-->\n<script>\n\/\/ define language and case\nbcase = 11;\nlang = \"en\";\n<\/script>\n<script src=\"https:\/\/pickedshares.com\/wp-content\/themes\/gp_child\/custom\/bender\/bender_labels.js\"><\/script>\n\n<script src=\"https:\/\/ajax.googleapis.com\/ajax\/libs\/jquery\/3.5.1\/jquery.min.js\"><\/script>\n<script src=\"https:\/\/cdn.jsdelivr.net\/npm\/chart.js@2.9.4\/dist\/Chart.min.js\"><\/script>\n<script src=\"https:\/\/pickedshares.com\/wp-content\/themes\/gp_child\/custom\/bender\/bender_frontend.js\"><\/script>\n\n\n\n<!--\/noptimize-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Some notes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Two tips and examples for converting units for the modulus of elasticity and the geometrical moment of inertia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The E-Modulus of Aluminium is 70000 N\/mm\u00b2 respective 70 GPa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The area moment of inertia for an IPB-beam with a flange width of 120 mm according to DIN 1025 is I<sub>y<\/sub> = 318 cm<sup>4<\/sup>, this equals 3180000 mm<sup>4<\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The calculation of the deflection is carried out using the <a href=\"https:\/\/ocw.mit.edu\/courses\/mechanical-engineering\/2-002-mechanics-and-materials-ii-spring-2004\/lecture-notes\/lec2.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bernoulli beam deflection theory<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Example calculation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Let's assume we have a platform with a surface area of 9 m\u00b2 under  pressure of 10 kN\/m\u00b2. The platform is placed symmetrically on three beams with a distance between the supports of 5 m. So each beam has to bear a load of 30 kN, which leads to a line load of 6 kN\/m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The area moment of inertia shall be 318 cm<sup>4<\/sup>, as mentioned above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We type the data in the \"deflection calculator line load\". The parameter for the section modulus is optional. If there is no value put in there, there will be no result for the bending moment, but still for the deflection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our example leads to a deflection of 73 mm.
